Welcome to 180 Math Days. I am currently a 6th and 7th grade math teacher in the Eanes District of Austin, Texas. My 6th graders take a compacted math course which means they will do 6th and 7th grade level math in one year. They, and my 7th graders, will be prepared to take Algebra by their 8th grade year.

The 2013-2014 school year marks my 6th year of teaching math. I taught Algebra I in Chapel Hill, North Carolina for 4 years. I moved to Austin in the summer of 2012 and have been teaching here since then.

This blog serves a few purposes. First, it is a way for parents and families to see what is happening in their child’s math class. In middle school especially, parents don’t always have a chance to see the classroom or hear feedback of what is going on. My goal is to have a photo and written reflection of what was done in class each day. This blog also allows me to reflect on my own teaching and lessons, and grow as an educator. Teaching is all about changing and evolving. I have learned so much from watching other teachers and using resources that other educators create to guide me . I want this to be a place where I can share my own lessons and ideas with other math teachers.

I just discovered your blog and added it to my list! I also LOVE your photo with the Bean!

Thanks! I am glad to be following your blog as well.

Very innovative, Impressive. I wish you had been my Algebra teacher. Thanks for making Math fun for the kids. Hallie is really enjoying your class.
