Students are finally getting into a daily routine. After the warm up and checking homework, I had a student present a problem to the class that they had made up from the homework assignment last night. They each had to come up with an expression using at least 4 terms that needed to be simplified using order of operations (some went above and beyond and even created word problems!). Whoever presented the problem on the board got to walk around while their classmates worked it out. It was nice to sit back and watch a student teach! We continued today with Properties–Associative, Distributive, Identity and Commutative. We worked on mostly just identifying these properties.

After going through a Smart Board lesson, students worked in small groups to figure out the Properties demonstrated on their paper. They had to not only identify, but also give reasoning behind it. I am still so impressed with the way these kids work! The class time moves quickly but we have been able to get a lot done.
